The soap box, what is it ? In the 1930's a clever soap manufacturer had the idea to put in his boxes of soap, pieces of metal and wheels. Thanks to these pieces, children could fabricate their own soapbox racer, and organize races to see who's soapbox was the champion.

During the 1960's, resourcefulness takes over and soapboxes were constructed of a wooden frame and 4 ball bearing wheels. Steering is typically actuated using a rope connected to the ends of the steerable beam (which can then double as a useful manual pulling device).

Soapbox races from this epoque, because of the various materials and construction, gave the racers a great sensation of speed from the noise and speeds that the soapboxes could attain.

Today, the soapbox is more advanced. The bodies are constructed using fiberglass and steel replacing the wooden frame and nails construction. The braking system is also more sophisticated using four-wheel disc brakes instead of dragging the feet on the ground.

Two types of soapboxes are available at the Parc:

Mini-motos
On the same track as the soapbox, experience the great thrill of a small motorcycle without motor .

These motorcycles need in order to have a good run on the track, that they are piloted as their big sisters. Trajectories, skidding and taking up corner turns are required in order to make good runs.

Age required : 13 years and +
Cost of the descent : 3 €

The carriage
Just remember your infernal descent of old, sitting on a simple wooden board, close to the ground. As in olden times, the steering of this vehicule is demanding, allowing you with fantastic sensations.

Age required : 18 years and +
Cost of the descent : 6 € (a monitor provides the braking)
